The campground entrance can be accessed by turning off Highway 89 onto Fallen Leaf Lake Road. Wilderness camping is available in the Desolation, Granite Chief and Mt. Campground Directions: Fallen Leaf Lake Campground is located on the south side of Lake Tahoe, approximately 3 mi north of the Y (the intersection of Highway 50 and Highway 89) in South Lake Tahoe. This means wood and charcoal fires and propane appliances may be restrictedÄeveloped campgrounds offer a range of facilities for the tent or RV camper. All developed campgrounds at Lake Tahoe charge a fee and there are many around the lake to choose from. The open season for campgrounds is dependent on snowfall, but they are generally open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The campground has over 200 sites that can be reserved here. Separated from Lake Tahoe by just a one-mile strip of land, it feels worlds away from the crowds and fuss.
